Hilda Baci is cooking 250 bags of rice as part of her Guinness World Record attempt to make the largest pot of jollof rice. This massive culinary endeavour is taking place at the Eko Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria and has drawn over 20,000 registered attendees. The giant pot she’s using is six meters wide and 1.3 meters deep, with a capacity of over 22,000 liters of food.
Baci, with assistance from a few others, will cook 250 bags of 20kg basmati rice, totaling around 5,278 kilograms. The ingredients alone are estimated to cost around ₦27.42 million, broken down into:
– Rice: ₦14.75 million
– Tomato Paste: ₦6.6 million (covered by a famous brand)
– Peppers: ₦1.5 million
– Onions: ₦2.57 million
– Oil: ₦3 million
– Seasoning: ₦1.25 million
The record attempt is part of a larger festival celebrating Nigerian cuisine and culture, featuring food exhibitions, cultural showcases, live entertainment, and immersive experiences.

Some notable celebrities who attended Hilda Baci’s Jollof Festival at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos include the Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele who made a surprise appearance, entertaining the crowd with her impressive dance moves and adding to the excitement of the event. She was sporting the same red pants with “Hilda Baci” inscribed on the pants.
Social media influencer and content creator, Enioluwa Adeoluwa and content creator who has been a long-time supporter of Hilda Baci has also been seen cheering her on during this record-breaking attempt.
Tomike Adeoye, an actress and entrepreneur is the host of the festival, describing the event as a moment of “greatness happening in our generation.”
