The Committee for Relevant Art (CORA) as well has the Freedom Park Family has joined the Lagos creative community in mourning the sudden death of DJ Bola Browne, an essential figure in the cultural landscape.
Until his passing, DJ Bola Browne made invaluable contributions in Nigeria and the United Kingdom and was a fixture at the cultural hub, Freedom Park Lagos.
In a statement signed by Samuel Osaze, CORA expresses grief on the sudden death of DJ Browne.
“As we grieve, we also remember his active roles and enduring legacies rooted in an unwavering passion for the arts. From his time as an on-air personality at iGroove Radio, later to BrownHill Radio, to his vibrant presence as a DJ, often performing with or without remuneration, he brought joy, energy and dedication to every performance.
“We hold dear the many collaborations and memories we shared with him over the years. While we acknowledge the inevitability of death, we take solace in the impact he made and the lives he enriched.”
DJ Browne was said to have suffered a heart attack after watching the Champions League match between Arsenal and PSG on Tuesday night.
“He walked towards the toilet after the match and had a massive heart attack around 10:30pm. He was rushed to St. Nicholas Hospital across the street. The doctors performed CPR on him but he was later confirmed dead.”
Filmmaker and co-founder of iREP International Documentary Film Festival Femi Odugbemi has also paid an emotional tribute to Browne on Facebook.
