Four Ways to Nail A Demure Look

Looks like the world just rediscovered the word “Demure.” Sometimes meaning modest or shy, the word Demure dates from the late 17th century. Today, being demure is associated with being mindful, cutesy, and not doing too much, according to TikTok creator Jools Lebron, who has gone viral for her videos.

Here’s our time-tested pointers on how to nail a demure look:

  • An Understated Pair of Shoe

You can maintain your steeze with good pairs of shoes that are expensive but not looking like it. Your designer logo must be invisible and it must sit well on your feet. It must get you through the day whether you are waiting in a queue or you’re at a cocktail.

  • Modest Make-up

Never mind the internet glam, you need to look approachable at a first glance. Unless you have a role in a stage play or something, just keep the makeup light and tidy.

  • Simple Jewellery

There’s a temptation to throw on some blings to make your everyday look become extraordinary. Remember, being demure means you are mindful – especially of others who think of vanity when they spot your neckline. Keep it modest but stunning.

  • Fits That Fit

If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit. Apologies for borrowing that infamous line from OJ Simpson’s lawyer. It’s just to say that if your clothes are too baggy, long and wide, you’d be doing too much swag and that’s not demure. Find out what the dress codes are and look the part but keep it moderate always.
