Idris Elba to Direct Nigeria-Set Movie for Mo Abudu’s Ebony Life

One of Hollywood’s greats, Idris Elba is set to direct a movie titled ‘Dust to Dreams’ which is set in Nigeria. Starring Grammy-winning singer, Seal, the movie will feature A-list stars like Nse Ikpe-Etim, Eku Edewor, Atlanta Bridget Johnson  and a former Nigerian Idol contestant, Constance Olatunde.

The short film project is a collaboration between Mo Abudu Ebony Life Films and African Export Import Bank *Afreximbank through its Creative Africa Nexus (Canex)

The short film follows the relationship between a mother and her teenager as she meets her father for the first time. Created by Mo Abudu, written and directed by Idris Elba, Mo Abudu will serve as both executive producer and producer.

The singer, Seal whose mother is a Nigerian has had a couple of films and TV roles to date, including appearing briefly as himself in a 2022 comedy film titled ‘Me Time’ with Mark Wahlberg and Kevin Hart and as Pontious Pilate in Fox Musical drama ‘The Passion’ from 2016.

Golden Globe Winner Elba, a Brit of Sierra leaone and Ghanaian descent is pairing up with Mo Abudu on this project following his directorial debut in 2018 movie, Yardie.
