What to Expect at Canon Student Development Programme for Aspiring Photographers

This opportunity window closes on March 7th 2024 so you need to hurry. Boost your career and take the next step to becoming a pro photographer with the Canon Student Development Programme. The programme offers aspiring photographers from across Europe, Middle East and Africa an incredible opportunity to meet leading industry experts and have their portfolio professionally assessed.

 

To be eligible, you need to be 18years or older as of 7th March 7th 2024, reside in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) have either started or completed an education course or internship with an agency or magazine within the academic year 2023-2024; or be nominated/endorsed by a professional from the photographic industry.

 

If you are selected by editors drawn from top media agencies, you’d receive 1-2-1 mentorships. Also, if you are among the top 25 students, you’d get an invite to attend an exclusive career-defining four-day workshop in Girona, Spain.

 

After the workshop, the students will attend Visa pour l’Image, the international festival of photojournalism in Perpignan, France. Three students will be awarded a €2k grant and Canon equipment to produce a new project.

 

Participants are selected by a panel of Canon representatives and external industry professionals from top media agencies including AFP, EPA, Getty Images, and Reuters.

Submissions will be assessed on narrative skill, authenticity, storyline, bio and overall quality of the portfolio and project proposal.

 

A limited number of places are available for participants nominated by the industry, regardless of where they are in their education journey.

 

Although the programme is open to anyone in Europe, Middle East and Africa, participants will need adequate proficiency in English to take part.
