FESPACO 2023 Begins in Ouagadougou

 

The city of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso comes alive today with the opening ceremony of the 28th edition of the Festival of Pan African Cinema of Ouagadougou (FESPACO).

The biennial gathering of filmmakers from all over the world begins on February 25 and will close on March 4.

‘Bravo Burkina’, the film by Nigerian born, US based filmmaker Wale Oyejide will open the festival at 7pm local Time.

Also C.J Fiery C.j. ‘Fiery’ Obasi’s award winning ‘Mami Wata’ will screen in competition at the festival and it will be competing for the festival top award- Yennega Stallion.

Nigerian filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan has been appointed as President of the Jury of the Perspective Section of the Festival.

Another important spotlight for Nigerian Cinema after both films (Mami.Wata and Bravo Burkina) made Nigeria proud at Sundance Film Festival.
