The South African rapper, AKA has been killed in a drive-by shooting on Florida road in Durban. The artist was reportedly standing outside a restaurant when the incident occurred.
It was alleged that two vehicles opened fire at the scene, killing AKA and injuring his bodyguard as well as another unidentified person.
The police have cordoned off the crime scene while stunned patrons looked on.
AKA was due to perform at a Durban night club, YUGO as part of his birthday celebrations.
Born Kiernan Jarryd Forbes on 28 January 28th 1988) in Cape Town, AKA gained significance after releasing his single “Victory Lap” which was released from his debut studio album, Altar Ego (2011).
Forbes’ studio albums include “Levels” (2014), “Touch My Blood” (2018), Bhovamania (2020) and the collaborative album, “Be Careful What You Wish For alongside Anatii” (2017).
AKA has collaborated with other artists across Africa including Ghana’s Sarkodie and Nigeria’s Burna Boy.
