Top Five African Love Drama to Watch This Valentine

Love of course is supposed to be an everyday affair but February 14 is usually a special day for couples and lovers to rekindle their love. Many people take extra steps in making that person close to their heart to feel special by lighting up their love with candle lights, special dinners and watching romantic movies together in a cinema or in their homes through streaming apps.

Interestingly, Gazelle Africa has five lineups of interesting African love drama movies that will make your valentine celebration a memorable one and sure to put you in that desired love mood with deep lessons, humour and the tingling feeling of love.

The first on my list is ‘The Sunday Affair’ an intimate feature film that will be showing on Netflix on February 14, 2023. Starring Nse Ikpe-Etim, Dakore Egbuson-Akande, Alexx Ekubo and others, this sensual movie captivates with beautiful cinematography and delightful dialogue.

  1. Before Valentine’s

Another movie you might prefer to a rose is an intriguing film that focuses on Saint Valentine’s Day. Produced by Nicole Ndigwe, “Before Valentine’s” has Nollywood’s finest stars including Yvonne Jegede, Vanita Akpofure, Uche Montana, Nino B and Teddy A.

 

  1. No Love Lost

Third on the list is ‘No Love Lost’ is a South African feature film that was directed by Phiwo Mkhanzi. The film features Hope Mbhele, a popular South African actress and Lungile Radu.

  1. Love in A Pandemic

The fourth on the list is ‘Love in a pandemic’ – a Nollywood movie that captures a beautiful love story set against the Covid-19 pandemic period. This film, directed by Akay Mason, stars Nancy Isime, Teniola Aladese, Eso Dike amongst others.

 

  1. Chevalier

Finally, ‘Chevalier’ is a biopic of composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, the illegitimate son of an African slave who rises to heights in French society as a composer before an ill-fated love affair.
